“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common, everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness – just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.”
Laura Ingalls Wilder

We are currently on the house hunt for a new place in Iowa and let me tell you, Zillow and Relator.com are worse than Pinterest for me. Lots of dreaming and excitement over here. I always love seeing “potential” in new spaces but need to remind myself to also be practical. With a toddler in tow I can’t take on the same type of project spaces I used to and we ultimately just need a solid, safe home. I came across this quote from Laura Ingall’s Wilder (fitting, since we are moving back to the Midwest) and was reminder that truly it is the simple things in life for which fill our hearts–a warm bed, nourishing food, nature. With this in mind we will hopefully find a new place in the next few months. Right now I’m feeling spring…in New Orleans everyone is gearing up for Mardi Gras and our “cold weather” is starting to transition to warmer days. Soon we will be seeing new buds and fresh greens sprouting! Time is flying my friends!
