Welcome to For this Home!

I’m Nicole Vegel and I started this endeavor because I truly enjoy creating a beautiful home, DIY projects and figuring out how a space can best function for our growing family. A refinished old table, fresh linens, a new coat of paint, a good candle and some warm homemade bread. Here you will find interior inspiration, various recipes and some of my latest home project endeavors. Wherever you stumbled here from, I appreciate you visiting!

Where do you live?

Currently, I live in Iowa with my husband Andy and our two daughters, Josephine and Elizabeth. I grew up in Minnesota and have moved all over for work, school and family endeavors. My heart is ultimately in the Midwest but I have found familiarity in the four walls of our home no matter where we are

Do You Own Your Home?

We just bought our first home. With this has come a whole host of surprises and ideas. There is so much work to be done because no matter how ‘finished’ they are something new always comes up. Our home is a historic Moffitt house and was initially designed for renters back in the 1940s. It is quirky, small and built with the resources available. Moffitt was one of the first home builders to start looking at building homes sustainability. While we love our current home, it won’t be the home we live in forever. Since we have rented all our living spaces so far, I have honed in on temporary and manageable changes to make it feel like ours without breaking the bank.

“There is a magic in that little world, home; it is a mystic circle that surrounds comforts and virtues never known beyond its hallowed limits.”
