I’m in a constant battle between my desire for minimalism, only having what we need, and having a love affair with dish and flatware, wanting multiple sets each. When I browse kitchen and pottery stores, I can’t help but want to take home a variety of plates, bowls, linen napkins and varied serveware. There is something about the stacks of pasta bowls, pottery plates and scalloped white edges that I can’t help but be drawn to. Let’s just say that I require a buddy when walking into William Sonoma or Crate and Barrel.

We currently have all white everyday dishes and a set of fine china for special occasions. For flatware we have a mirrored set that can bounce between both casual everyday and nice dinner parties as well as a set of Sabre bistro flatware. My take on everyday plates and flatware is that it is going to get broken, scratched and chipped so it shouldn’t be too expensive and should 100% be dishwasher safe. As our family grows, plates will get broken and I don’t want to be too attached to something that is nice. However, I am old fashioned and love a set of fine china for holidays and celebrations.

If you are putting together a wedding registry or in the market for new dishware and flatware I rounded up my current favorites! It’s not always necessary to have full matching sets, but if you’re looking for that I’ve included a couple of those too.
