I haven’t spent much time on this space talking about our family life. I’ve tried to keep things very specific to just our living space. However, given that this family update impacts our living space it felt necessary to share. We are moving! We recently found out that Andy got a new job in…Iowa. We are beyond excited!! NOLA to Iowa? Excited? Yes. Being that we are from the Midwest, this move brings us closer to our family and friends. So, come this spring we will trade our Mardi Gras costumes in for some overalls and farming boots (not really hah! Iowa isn’t all farmland/corn)!

New Orleans was such a culture shock for us when we moved here 4 years ago. As a newly married couple (literally the day after we got married we moved) it certainly brought us closer as we navigated a different way of living: hurricanes, weird spellings/pronunciations of words, cockroaches, 3 moves in 3 years, unfamiliarity, crazy heat and humidity like we’ve never known. And COVID certainly threw us a fun time! But New Orleans is also where we became parents and where our sweet daughter was born. We found amazing food and enjoyed so many wonderful date nights in romantic uptown New Orleans. We spent our first holidays together away from family, celebrated milestones and birthdays and grew tighter as a family. We found a little slice in the city that was home and for that the memories we have here will always be sweet.

If there is anything I’ve learned in my short time intentionally creating a home, the walls don’t define it…the people who you love that do. These are some of my favorites photos from our time in the homes we’ve lived in down here and made our own!

I’ll be sharing some of our house hunting updates as well as the process to move cross country in the coming months! Stay tuned 🙂

With love,

Nicki
