Being far away from family and friends during medical training is not easy! But living in a destination city means we have a draw for our people to come visit. I wanted to make our guest bedroom feel inviting so that our parents, friends, and siblings would feel welcomed and want to stay longer (my secret motive!). I love this room in our apartment because it gets fantastic natural light and all the pieces came together perfectly. Sometimes I feel like the process can be a bit winding to finalize a space but this one just flowed. My goal was to add more color into this room and so I started my design process with the velvet teal chair my grandmother and I redid together. It is quite a bold statement piece that may seem out of place in our relatively neutral home, but I absolutely love it. The rug is what really brings the room together with its distressed vintage look and earth tones.

In trying to balance forever pieces of furniture and the reality that we will be moving again, I invested in an end table and dresser from Pottery Barn then eliminated our box spring mattress for the black iron platform bed from Wayfair. This took out one piece of bulky piece we won’t have move again and the dresser will be able to convert into a changing table for our nursery. Room by room our apartment is coming together and I’m excited to check one more project off the list!

I added a Shop page that includes all the sources we used in our guest bedroom!
