A Midwest winter in January is not without its (unfortunate) inside days. We prioritize getting outside everyday but the inevitable below zero temperatures in winter can keep us cooped up. I have littles (1 and 3 years old) so keeping them busy and happy during days we have to stay inside can take some strategic thinking. I put together a list of our favorite things that keeps us all sane while we are cooped up. With coffee in hand, cheers mommas <3
1. Toddler Knives. We have kept busy cooking together and my three year old has so much fun learning her way around the kitchen.
2. Apple Cake: a gratitude. This sweet book is loved by both my girls. It also has a great recipe for apple cake that is fun to make.
3. City Moon. A wonderful story about going to search for the moon.
4. 100 Year Old Barn. A classic read that your kids will love for years to come.
5.Yoto Mini. All I can say is this is pure gold. Hour and hours of listening to books and music. I don’t know what we did before the Yoto.
6. Hanging Rings. We installed these in our basement and they have been a great way to get energy out when we are stuck inside.
7. Activity Table. When all else fails, I always resort to a sensory activities to keep the kiddos entertained. I love that this little table has two compartments and other busy board inserts.
8. Indoor mini-trampoline. If you can fit it in your home, it is well worth it. Another great energy burner.
9. Melissa and Doug play barn. It is great that this comes with little animal figurines. My girls love to create and imagine with this set.
10. All Around Busy Town Sticker Book. This sticker book has gone the distance! The pages allow you to put the stickers on and off.
11. Kinetic Sand Box. Another great sensory activity. Love that it comes in its own little container with toy trucks.
12. Water Doodle Mat. The best $20 I have ever spent and an art activity that makes no mess.
