Despite writing on this little blog and having two separate Instagram accounts, I’ve been more conscious of spending less time on my phone and computer to be more present what is unfolding in front of me. This month in particular, I’ve been pulled away from the use of technology. Life is full and busy, especially with a growing toddler and as we approach the holidays. Not being on my phone, in particular, is awesome. I love the non-intentional break from being sucked into a cyber world.
Josie also loves technology, our phones, computers, the TV, keyboards, mouses, remotes- you name it she makes a bee line for it when she sees it. Technology will 100% be part of her life growing up (and probably even more so than mine) but I want to try to preserve her childhood as much as possible. Not that technology is bad, by no means do I think this. But I see her reaching for the devices when we are on it in front of her and I don’t want there to be a “device” between me and her when she is up and we are going about our days together.
With all this, I’ve now started setting boundaries around when I use my phone, what I use technology for and when we turn the TV on. I’m sure this will be ever evolving but with less screen and technology time we’ve had more time for other activities and hobbies. Now that I’m spending more screen free time, here are some of the things I’m loving this month.
