In these ordinary days of new parenthood, I am more aware of the smaller experiences I have in my home. With an infant, life has slowed down dramatically. Between the rocking, the playing and breastfeeding there isn’t much time to invest in grander things–life is just ordinary. And you know? I love it. It was an adjustment at first because I’m used to meeting quarterly goals, pushing out new projects and leading a team to success. Now, I sink into these quiet, seemingly mundane moments. One of the smaller daily experiences I’ve come to appreciate even more now as a new mom is a shower. Yup, a simple shower. To all my moms out there, you know what I mean. Those 10-15 minutes are some of the only time I have alone during the day. I try to make the most out of those fleeting minutes from start to finish. Our bath towels have become part of the ritual and help extend the luxury in my brief “me time”. I used to have towels that were mismatched, too short, and quite honestly didn’t dry well but the ones we have now are plush and cozy. If you too are in the midst of making the most out of those small everyday experiences or just need to refresh your towels, here are some of my favorites. We love the ones we have from Costco, but there are also some other options out there in all price ranges.
General things to look for when buying towels?
– Look for 100% cotton with dense plush loops
-If you like extra plush towels look for over 600 GSM (this is the weight of the fabric)
-If you are someone who like the quick drying towel and isn’t concerned about plush, look for a poly-cotton blend. …in my humble opinion, I think plush is the way to go…
-Wash them before you use them to get rid of some of the excess shedding. It also gets rid of any finishing that is left over from production.
